I know exactly what you mean. The original postings got me rummaging through the garage to find where my pipes were packed up from the last move (I'd been smoking cigars exclusively for the last decade or so.) Since then I've smoked my favorite Peterson twice. Like KS, I tend toward the English-style unflavored blends.
Streetcar, I owned a Kirsten, and while its interesting design, I wasn't that enamored with it. Mainly I remember it being a bit of a pain to clean due to all the moisture in the body. I think in the end mine broke - snapped where the bowl screws into the body, and I didn't bother to get it fixed. Much prefer Peterson system pipes, some similar concepts, but old-school time-tested design.
