Calixte, yokoso (welcome) to the rabble from Japan! As another who lives in a country that's far away from the nearest kiltmaker, let me assure you that even many of our brethren in Europe and North America live prohibitively far from a kilt shop. As a result, the rabble may correct me if I'm wrong, most of us order our kilts mail-order via the Internet. There are many wonderful online stores, and if you poke around the forum a little, you'll quickly learn which ones are recommended and which ones are not.
However, seeing that you are actually taking a trip to Europe, you may be able to find something somewhere. I DO know that our very own Lady Chrystel makes some of the best kilts around. I haven't had the good fortune of wearing her products, but I've seen many pictures of kilted rabble that do.

I don't however know exactly where in France she is located.
