The 79th sporran doesnt look anything like that. Here are some notes I have on an original:

79th New York Sporran

Overall: 22 x 11 in. ( 55.9 x 27.9 cm )

Leather, hair, cotton

Leather, hair, and cotton sporran; red leather cover, two belt loops, and pocket on back of bulbous, brown leather pouch stitched to back of another brown leather pouch that has scalloped, fringed black leather cover, skin patch suspending horsehair flap, and three black cotton laces with leather and brown horsehair tassels on front.
Yes, the sporrans did have a pouch in them. They were brown kid leather flaps sewn to the red kid leather back. There were two leather belt loops stitched above the pouch dead center behind the cantle.

Here are some pictures I photo shopped together for a quick visual of them....all in all that sporran has a vague idea of the originals but is nothing like them.
