Kilted Carver, in answer to your question of "how long did it take?", the actual construction was probably 3-4 hours. There were a couple of re-dos: I originally had a partial triangular shaped gusset, but replaced it with a full gusset when I decided that I would gain much more room. The longest actual part was trying to decide how to go about it. I had lusted for a hunting sporran for a while after perusing the Britt Fergusson sporrans, but had never actually seen a hunting sporran before, only pictures on the internet. I borrowed some of the stated dimensions and tried to make up a template. I also did a partial construction out of scrap fabric so I wouldn't waste my leather. I cut my own lace from the leather for the braids; the cutting and the braiding probably account for a third of total construction time. After this one, I'm sure the next one will go much more quickly & hopefully look better: There will definitely be more to come!
