The next kilt
Well, I guess I am making up for lost time. After being away from kilting for a while I have received two new kilts in two days. This one is a black Stewart from Stillwater kilts. This particular kilt will be a tide-over kilt until I can get Barb or Kathy to sew up an 8 yarder in this fabric. You see, my very first kilt was a Stillwater standard in this tartan. This was proof to myself that I would even wear the kilt. That particular item was given away a couple of years ago, but I have always missed the tartan.
So when Jerry offered it in his heavyweight collection, I just had to buy it. I will steam out the creases tonight and remove the third strap and buckle and wear it proudly tomorrow.
So now that the itch has started again, I wonder what will be next on my list? Will it be the weathered Robertson Red I have had my eye on, or will it be the Maple Leaf box-pleat with the fabric I have? Or even the Antarctic or the New Mexico land of enchantment? So many choices, so little money.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
