The term "poser" is all tied up with ethos. A true traditionalist is not a poser because he/she is inherently embracing the ethos of the tradition (cajunscot, I'm agreeing with you ). But, within any community there are those who ONLY dress/act in the manner of the group in order to fit in--aka poser.

Posing, IMHO, requires a group identity within which to pose. It would be nearly impossible for the "casual," frequent kilt wearer to be a poser unless that person was only wearing the kilt to pretend to be a Scot.
