My new kilt pins! W00t! (And a new sporran too!)
In a recent thread, there was some discussion about a creative way to find new kilt pins -- that is, don't search for "kilt pin" on eBay, but use keywords like "brooch" or "pewter pin" and similar.
Well, I did exactly that and got some fantastic new swag!!! This week was friggin' Christmas!!! The postman was heavily laden with all my new gear, which arrived within a few days of each other. I decided to wait until the last piece arrived before I took the obligatory pictures (or it didn't happen, right?) and posted them. The average price of each item was $12, and the sporran was made by a leather worker (tack and other leather goods): Arena Leatherworks (in Tennessee). It cost me $17 (brand new).
Aright - checkitout, y'all!
In my search for "maple brooch" (because I'm Canadian, I thought it would be awesome to show my national pride a little.
Here's a very unusual one in three different metals. I thought it looked best with my IOS, so it will most likely be my new, standard pin for that special kilt.

Next, we have a beautifully colored Sterling silver pin. I had to fight for this one with some other bidder! You can see why... I think it goes perfectly with my Hunting Stewart. (Notice how the changing colors of the leaf each match the green, red and yellow stripes of the tartan).

Next, was a search for "dragon brooch." (I like dragons)... This is what I got: it's a Chinese dragon with black stones for eyes and rhinestones for scales. The picture just doesn't do it justice, and try as I might, I couldn't photograph it well enough to make it stand out. But it does nicely with my Nightstalker.

Finally, I had been looking for a new sporran. I wanted something made from soft, supple leather (like some of the Rob Roy sporrans you see around)... Well, this came up on an eBay search, and for $17 I couldn't go wrong! The picture isn't that accurate, as it makes the sporran look red and black, whereas the red is actually a pretty dark burgundy.

Man, I'm so happy! Guess who's goin' out on the town tonight?
