Is it indeed practical? Thanks in advance for your advice.
I have put eyelets in myself, in an Argyle. I am in the process of making a 'How to do it' thread, with pics on this very subject. It is not difficult and takes about 20 to 30 minutes per button - a long time, yes - difficult, no.
As to your jacket - there is a hole somewhere which will allow you access to all the buttons under the lining. Start anywhere on your jacket where the lining touches the outer and follow it, you will come to the hole. They are often at the back and very rarely at the cuff, but it is there. You will be able to remove every button on the jacket; you will be doing it blind, but you will be able to do it.

Chas
