Thumbs down I knew that was going to happen

At the Heritage Festivalin Piqua Sat, Mike (of Dayton) and I were walking around the encampments when I saw a kilt with a blue so bright, it almost burned. A lovely shade, to be honest. No way could it be period either.

I asked the wearer about the tartan, and was told it was the "Outdoorsman" Tartan. Never heard of it, but what the heck, it looked decent enough.

Then it happened. I asked about the maker.

    The response?

    "Utilikilt"

I looked at Mike, and in agreement we both said it. "The Dayton Celtic Festival"

He didn't seem to like that we told him it wasn't a real Utilikilt, nor that it was made in Pakistan, instead of the Americas like a real Utilikilt. We also kinda told him it probably wasn't wool, and he probably shouldn't be so close to the cooking fires. He scoffed at the warning.

I posted after the Celtic fair that I thought the store selling various brands of kilts with only a sign saying "Utilikilts" was a bad practice. If he ever wants another one of those kilts, in a different size, or if he gets too close to the camp fire, he's screwed. I finally found a kilt of that tartan name, from the Frugal Corner. http://www.thefrugalcorner.com/outdoors.htm The blue is far brighter than that.

(Now I realize why the seller was fighting so hard to hid her source. She didn't import from Pakistan, she was reselling TFC's kilts as Utilikilts!) (But it did look better than I expected for being a FC kilt! Then again, it was probably the first or second wearing. I miss my SW looking that good.)
