You do know, don't you, that the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) no longer exists as a regiment in the UK? That being said, the Royal Regiment of Scotland ( of which the 3rd Battalion is the old Black Watch ) wear the kilt pleated to the stripe.

The Royal Highland Regiment of Canada wear the Government tartan pleated to the stripe.

What do you mean when you say "...one might suspect that what they wear would be very rich and respected in Scottish Tradition"? Are you referring to the cost and workmanship of the kilt? Do you think the actual kilt is respected or the officers and men who wear them are respected in "Scottish Tradition"? Certainly the name "Black Watch" is highly regarded, as are all the names of the old Highland regiments.

I have tried all throughout this thread to understand what it is you are asking. Plenty of people have told you what is/was worn. If you want to wear a kilt like that worn by the officers and men of the Black Watch, then it is made with knife pleats, to the stripe, of heavyweight cloth. As Nervous Jock--himself a serving officer of the Royal Regiment of Scotland--has told you, the current kilt worn by all ranks of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, including those in the Black Watch, 3rd Battalion RRS, is box pleated to the stripe.

I hope this answers your questions.
