What a great weekend it was in Scotland weather wise, sunshine for two continous days is a rarity these days and what great weather we had. We were up in Pitlochry for their highland games and later on in the Pitlochry Festival Theatre for 'Whisky Galore - A Musical'
We stayed at the Arcasaid Hotel in Pitlochry on Saturday night(I think that is where Mael Column stayed on his Pitlochry visit) first class place.
The games were a treat to watch especially in such fine weather but strangely enough this was the first games that I have been to, that there was no Caber Tossing competition, always a highlight of any games.
Whisky Galore - A Musical was a sell out, its running till October and I don't believe that there are any tickets for any performances left - a brilliant show.
On the way home on Sunday we headed towards the west coast through Aberfeldy, Killin and stopping for lunch at the beautiful Falls of Dochart before heading to Crianlarich and down the western side of Loch Lomond.

In glorious weather its hard to beat the Scottish countryside, beautiful.
My only problem was the heat and wearing the kilt over the weekend in warm weather can be a bit of an ordeal at times, particularly when everyone else male and female are in shorts.
My kilt was a lightweight Douglas tartan but with a belt on, the sporran and even the socks down around the ankles, I still found it very warm. How X-Markers in warm climes manage with a kilt, I will never know.
I love any opportunity to don the kilt but at times over the weekend, I was wishing that I had brought shorts with me.
I am unusual in saying that I love wearing the kilt in cold weather and that the kilt is far more comfortable in cold weather than any other mode of dress.
People will say that you must be frozen in a kilt in Scottish winters but thats when I love wearing it.
