Kilt on Ice!
In college, I was a very good ice skater (figure skating). A week ago, my daughter announced she wanted her birthday party at the local ice rink. Haven't been on ice skates for many years. However, always wanted to test the boundaries, decided to try a kilt on ice.
I wore my US Navy tartan Sportkilt, thin black knee socks (thin so they would fit into the skates) and topped it off with a woolly white sweater.
I was pretty wobbly at first, but once I found my balance, my speed and dexterity came back. Was worried about upending myself if you know what I mean.
There were a lot of little kids there and I could see many asking their mommies about the guy in the "skirt".
A nice English lady came up along side and asked me if I was Scottish. We chatted for a bit, found out she was from Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's birthplace.
Overall, I was comfortable, the kilt actually works quite well on ice. No movement constraints at all due to the kilt. I recommend it for those interested in trying something a little different.
