As much as I wish them well with their endeavours, I just can't see this being the money spinner that they hope for. If a person is a member or ex-member of the Black Watch or a fan of the Black Watch, why not wear the Black Watch? Why wear a tartan that will not be recognised as having anything to do with the Black Watch. In the UK there are 3 tartans that are recognised by the public - Royal Stewart, Burberry and Black Watch. Everything else comes under the heading 'other tartans'.
One day, I hope to have a kilt made in the heaviest weight Black Watch that I can find, but I could never see me wanting the 'Red Hackle'.
It would be interesting to find out whether they ever get more than one bolt of cloth woven. Good luck to them - I think they might need it.
Regards
Chas
