Hose up or down?

I prefer hose up, myself.

Cold and muddy - hose up:

Hot and dusty - hose down (or barefoot!):

But I have followed this rule of thumb on occasion.
Of course, if it's that hot and/or dry, I'm probably wearing low shoes (not boots) so my hose (if I'm wearing them) are pulled up.
