Economic Stimulous
I have just placed the final order for all of the items for my Kilt kit. I believe that X Marks the Scot and all of the X Markers that contribute should be congratulated by the United Nations for their assistance in our current economic recovery.
The first order went to Kathy Lare, Kiltmaker in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for my MacDuff Ancient Hunting, 8 yard, fully traditional, hand sewn kilt. The tartan was produced in Scotland, as was the Argyll jacket and waistcoat that she also ordered for me. The jacket is in, and the tartan and waistcoat have been shipped.
The second order went to a leatherworker in Scotland who made my brown daywear belt and sporran. I do not know who it is that produced these beautiful items, since it is a gift that I have not yet received. But, they have been shipped.
The third order went to Canada, to Celtic Den for my custom designed Dress Sporran from L&M. It should ship next week.
The fourth order was with Celtic Croft in Minnesota for my plaid pin, black belt, belt buckle, and stag horn handled daywear sgian dubh (made in Scotland). My darling wife was also able to order her bodhran and tipper.
The fifth order went to the Scottish tartans Museum for a variety of kilt hose. One pair has arrived!
I certainly would not have spent my money where I did and with who I did if it had not been for X Marks the Scot and its membership. Your free and bountiful advice to all, as well as all of your photos, have made me feel that I have been making educated and well thought out financial and cultural decisions. I am also pleased to read how many of you wear your kilts as often as possible. This has allowed me to spend the past month figuring out how often I can wear it. For all of this I am extremely thankful to the membership.
So, now the waiting sets in, and in, and in...
OK...Is it here yet?
Darn...
How about now?
Si Deus, quis contra? Spence and Brown on my mother's side, Johnston from my father, proud member of Clan MacDuff!
