Hello:
Just sayin' hi from Maine.
I joined this site looking for information about buying a kilt and having one custom made for me later in life. I have been amazed at the amount of information available in this site, especially about jacket conversions (which I will try this weekend) and about knitting kilt hose, which has been forwarded to a knitting friend of mine.
I have bought Barbara's book, in hopes that my wife or I may try to make our own kilt in the future. We will start with either a xkilt or a 8 yard kilt made from "Carhart" duck cloth, for practice and for goofin' around in.
I do have experience in making sgian dubhs and knives. I have a small hobby shop set up in my garage and porch in South Portland, ME. The winter forces me to shut down for a few months, hence my new interest in kiltmaking.
