Kilted at Celtic Women concert
The Northern Virginia area had both the Battlefield Band and Celtic Women performing on St Patrick's Day. I wanted to go see Battlefield Band (which we've seen the last two years) and my wife wanted to see Celtic Women, so we compromised and went to see Celtic Women.
I wore my Burnett and Struth casual in modern Gunn and expected to see a few more kilts at the concert but discovered that save for a lone piper in the show, I was the only one kilted in attendence.
That didn't particularly bother me - in fact, I rather enjoyed being the only kilted person in the audience (of several thousand).
I got a fair share of double-takes and some shy smiles but only a few people actually said anything - though it was all complementary. I talked to one lady about tartan, and met an Irish gentleman who owned a kilt but didn't wear it (for which I chastised him).
It was a good concert and I expect we'll see them next time they are in town, but I sure hope its on a different night than Battlefield Band.
