From a high of 15, down to 10
I sold off a kilt this past Thursday. I sold it to Jay, in our throwing group for 40 bucks. It's a Gold Brothers special, 5-yard in the Scottish National tartan, and with my never-ending quest for the ultimate sit-up it' didn't fit any more. It works just fine for Jay, though.
So my closet has shrunk, yet again. Someday I will finish my Ancient MacNaughton and unless money drops from the sky and I can buy a Capercaillie Tartan kilt, I think this is about it. Well...I might replace my Holyrood five-yard with one that's not quite as *snug* around my waist as the current version! Then again, maybe it's good incentive for weight loss! ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
Modern MacNicol wool (not worsted) 7 yard ...I made it; my first "traditional kilt", mostly handsewn.
Holyrood wool/poly blend 5 yard ...purchased
X Marks Tartan worsted 13 ounce 6-yard...I made it, mostly handsewn
Weathered MacNaughton 5 yard in PV .... purchased..this is now my throwing kilt
California State Modern box-pleat in 13 oz worsted....I made it. I love this kilt; entirely machine-sewn
Hall Clan 4-yard box pleat .... I made it (I don't much like it, it's 10 ounce fabric) mostly machine-sewn
Gray Stewart 8 yard in 11 ounce ...I made it, almost entirely handsewn
Lindsay Clan 6 yard in 11 ounce .... I made it, machine-sewn
Predator camo X-kilt cotton/poly ... I made it; machine-sewn
Digicamo Rev K cotton/poly casual kilt .... I made it. This is my backpacking kilt, machine-sewn.
OK, OK, I have a length of cloth that works for my re-enactment Great Kilt, too.
Someday I might make myself another contemporary in a Hemp/recycled Poly blend, but I think that "someday" is a long way's off, now. If the digicamo kilt gives up the ghost I might replace it with the hemp/recycled poly. That's a truly wonderful material for making a contemporary kilt out of.
"More" is not "better" for me, now. It's a good lesson.
