Congrats on you new kilt Jordan, it looks great. I have also adopted the inside, inverted left strap/buckle. It's easier to make them that way, and I think it gives the kilt less strain.

I don't know about making it but I would have thought that with the internal support it wouldn't have made too much difference apart from not having a big hole in the side.
