I havent' been on here in a while due to some freakish weather events around where I live.
I don't know whether or not news coverage is reaching Canada, the US or Europe, but it's dominating all TV channels here......we're in the midst of the biggest floods in SE Qld since the seventies, and so far ten people have lost their lives and a further 90 are still missing.
These are some photos I took the day before yesterday in a flash flood that hit here - it came up to these levels in less than five minutes and after another five minutes was nearly double this height.
There is a roundabout under here that is completely submerged.
You can see the water disturbance here around the roundabout.
There are four lanes of traffic here (two each way), and in the distance you can see what used to be Queen's Park. The small bushes on the far side of the road went under a minute after I took this, and the water just kept rising.
These ones thought their Mercedes was a boat.
It isn't.
This is after it got turned around, but before it went under entirely.
Just as the water started to enter the building. It ended up a foot deep.
The carpark next door after all the water had subsided.
