When you're walking wounded
Had an odd situation in the fall - a broken collarbone requiring that I wear a spectacularly ugly sling. Had a very big formal dinner coming and so used a silk officer's sash as a sling which I wore with my regulation doublet and kilt.
The dark red colour worked and kept my arm in place. I don't have an electronic photo to show but medical stuff is usually very obtrusive - this instead was an elegant solution that completely worked out. Arm's fine now, too.
