On your list I would go with a useful jacket first.

You already have two sporrans, so you are good there for now I think.

Plus you have one kilt in hand and one on order if I am tracking correctly.

Besides the day wear jacket, what about maybe adding some more hose colors to your closet? I had easy a dozen sweaters when I started down this path. With three pair of hose, lovat blue, lovat green and claret hose I have 36 possible choices of hose/sweater color. Certainly some of those work better than others.

It seems like folks in the UK get by with wearing either blue or red garter ties with any color hose they can think of. Or blue or red flashes. If you have two pairs of thing to wrap around your hose, one red, one blue, all that is left to do is maintain.

So with two kilts, a day wear jacket (presumably you have a collection of shirts and ties already) and three or four hose colors, then I would look at either a formal jacket and waistcoat to wear with black tie OR then go for brown sporran, strap and belt to multipy day wear options.

It isn't clear to me if your bobcat sporran will work with black tie.

Also, if your needs really lean to daywear, I agree brown leathers will give you options you may not have right now. However, hose color is less expensive and I think more eyecatching than leather color.

Anytime I have disagreed with MacMillan of Rathdowne it has been because my knowledge is not as exhaustive as his. I have learned quite a bit just trying to figure out why he has said some of the things he has said. He is a significant credit to the community.
