Using Google Image Search
There is a lot of great information on Xmarks but I find forum search engines less than optimum for my purposes. Here is an example of how to use Google image search to quickly find information. Say you have worn your new kilt a few times and would like to upgrade your sporran strap from the stock chain that came with your sporran. You have seen some pictures on Xmarkes or on retail sites of various options but the pictures don’t really show how they work or which is best for you. Here is what you do.
Open a new browser tab and go to Google.
Click “image” at the top left of the screen.
To the right of the entry box click “advanced image search”.
To the right of Related to the exact phrase enter “sporran strap”
To the right of Return images from site or domain enter www.xmarksthescot.com
Now click the “Google Search” button.
Now you can hover over a picture and get a slightly bigger image and a brief description of the post. If you see something you like click on the picture. Closing the picture (clicking the small X in the upper right corner of the image) will drop you into the thread. When you are done you can back out. Or if you prefer you can open a new window from the image search results by right clicking the image and selecting “open in new window”. Then when you are done with that thread you just close the window and are back at the image search results.
I am a visual person and find this a much faster and more enjoyable way to search the site.
Hope this helps someone. Happy searching
