A little OT, but this thread reminds me of a incident I had a while back;
There was a thread here once about people making weird assumptions about where kilts are from, like a guy hollering "Hey Switzerland" at one one of us, or in one case asking the kiltie if he was a Rabbi. 
Shortly after that I was running late to a get-together, and I was double-timing about 100 yards through a mall parking lot wearing my saffrom kilt. This black guy and his girl had been looking at me the whole time, and as I passed them at a trot, from behind me he hollers; "Man, what are you wearing?"
I was in a hurry, and that thread popped into my mind, 
So I said "It's OK, I'm a Rabbi!" over my shoulder and I heard him say "oh he's Jewish" like it all made sense to him now!
