Celebration of Hope
Each year the First Lady of Kentucky hosts a luncheon honoring breast cancer survivors. It started out as about 20 women for tea at the Governor's Mansion 14 years ago and now hosts some 1000 survivors at the Convention Center in Frankfort. I am a member of the Celebration of Hope committee and this year decided to honor my Scots-Irish grandmother who died of breast cancer by wearing my kilt to the function (I'd have done that before, but I was too fat to fit into my kilt). One of the many things I did that day was to greet the guests as they arrived and here is a quick shot of me shaking hands with the governor when he arrived to address the gathering. The photo is washed out, so you can't necessarily tell I am wearing a pink shirt and a tie black with racehorses on it - all part of the theme.
