Working in the male-dominated automotive industry, having a "gender-ambiguous" name has sometimes been an advantage. But when I [made a huge mistake and] bought a condo in the early '80s, the title documents were made out in my name, "an unmarried man."

I then had to sign a quit-claim deed in favor of myself, "an unmarried woman."

NOW it was serious. A double-dog-dare. What else was there but a "triple dare you"? And then, the coup de grace of all dares, the sinister triple-dog-dare.



JCheshire created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat!

So I walked into the office in my full kilted glory and one of the people behind the counter met me with a "let me guess, gender mistake, right. let me fix that for you. " After all the planning, what a let down. Oh well I guess I will have to join Grant in the "no kilt check section" PFUI

My wife’s first name is Glenn – often enough a man’s name.
When she was a student, a guy of about the same age, with the same first name and surname and the same middle initial, failed to report for military duty.
The South African Defence Force discovered that someone who apparently bore his name was a student in Cape Town, and sent her call-up papers.
She took her papers with her and went to see a sergeant at the Castle of Good Hope. She offered to undress to prove that she was a woman. The sergeant blushed and said that would not be necessary!
