Well I guess since my latest invitation was lost in the mail (yet again) I will have to forgo the outfit.

Though I will admit after reading some other posts I have had thoughts of how to make the jacket usable with some color details added. Maybe the cuffs and lapel in a color that would work well with the tartan it was warn with, and some colored piping as well?

Do you know the backstory on this picture? Those don't even really look like kilts to me. Or if they are, they're weird kilts. Though the rest of the outfit seems to imply pseudo-Scottish traditional stuff. What line of work were these three fellows in? (I'm assuming these were uniforms of some sort.)

It occurs to me that all-white outfits are common in some occupations. Cooks/chefs, for example. Maybe doctors/nurses. Maybe an all-white kilt would be appropriate for those occupations, if one were to wear a kilt while doing them.

Never could figure out some of those traditions. Why butchers, for example, are supposed to wear white. Bob and I used to (and may again in future, if time and tides allow) work trackside for vintage auto racing where workers are expected to be in head-to-toe whites. Mud, dust, "tire snot," sweat. . . the list of hazards is never-ending.

Anyway, back OT. I like the Liberace Tartan idea but watch out for the backing prongs on all those rhinestones!

These gents are most likely from the little known "10th Arctic Highland Brigade."

Strategic wise, there was a period when control of the north seas were considered very important. Brave Scots maintained a permanent, albeit chilly, presence there for a number of years, until the needs in other countries were so great, the arctic foothold had to be let go.

Something in the back of my brain remembers a big musical number in a movie, with lots of guys in white kilts. I think a guy was trying to get out of marrying. Maybe Vera Ellen was in it?
