Yes indeed "the city" as Bay Area people call San Francisco, and indeed there was a time when it was the only place worthy of the name "city" on the west coast, when Los Angeles was a small town.

I was an avid Scottish Country Dancer back in the 80s but I haven't danced since. I had got the point where I knew enough dances to show up at a dance and dance all night, and do the really fun advanced dances.
