My New Caubeen
Thanks to the inspiration from Kiltedfirepiper, and with most of his instructions, I was able to throw this puppy together. I used cold-weather trousers for the material and I was able to get two headbands from the waistband. ( one for my wife) I've since made one in tan and another in brown. What do you think?
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

I still don't know why some of my photos come up and others don't. Maybe this one still has to be approved?

Did you link to the url of the gallery instead of the picture itself?

Well, I can still only see Joshua's caubeen, and not that of Baldybrown, the OP.
I have a couple of caubeens myself. In fact I might consider selling one. The main difficulty is that I really don't know what size it is, because if it were the size it were marked it would fit my head, LOL! It's a British Army surplus one, which for those who don't know means it's green and doesn't have any band or ribbons. I got it from a German eBay trader who gets a lot of British uniform items. The trouble is, I think the squaddies deliberately get them too big and shrink them on purpose. The lining is also missing, FWIW.
The one I actually wear is from J Byous of Savannah, Georgia, and is adjustable in size, because I didn't want to risk getting another one that didn't fit! (And I have a large head)

The pic posted by Joshua *is* of Baldybrown's caubeen, I believe; J. just tracked down and posted the proper image URL.

Thanks Guys,
I'm sure that I will eventually figure it out. At any rate, I'm happy with the bonnet. Thanks again to Kiltedfirepiper,
Ron

Not fat, surly, or ugly enough to be me... sorry.
