Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Festival
Only five more days to the Highland Festival in Jackson, WY. Then on to the four day festival in Estes Park, Colorado in September. It's supposed to be huge with the largest Celtic parade in North America on Saturday and a 'Tattoo' every night.
Who else is going? We should have a clan tent set up for the X-rabble.
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

I may be going. Not sure. Haven't decided. Depends on finances. We have three other festivals (including one that's new for us this year!) to do still. So it also depends on how much energy I have...

I went to the Estes Park festival over 20 years ago when I worked in Fort Collins. Really spectacular to hear the massed bands echo off the mountains.
Can't make it this year, but probably will next year. One of our daughters lives in Fort Collins.
Enjoy and send the rest of us pictures.
Regards,
Tom

I'm there every year. Starting last year I host the MacLea (Livingstone) tent and all XMarks members are welcome. We will be in the middle at the back of the upper clan tent this year. Stop by and say hi.

I will be there on Friday and Saturday. Stop by the Clan Sutherland tent and say hello.
Greg, how do you know where your clan location is? Is there a chart showing the clan locations? I know there is once you get there but ahead of time?

I have always wanted to attend these games. I remember seeing posters for the event all throughout my childhood - my family and I would travel to Colorado (all over; Ft. Collins, Estes Park, Boulder, Dillion, Pueblo, Copper Mountain, Denver, Frisco, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Fraser, Grandby, Vail, etc) every summer to climb, backpack, fish, kayak, and camp - ever since I was 5 years of age. Colorado is a very special place to me, in fact, my father is out there as we speak, climbing Mount of the Holy Cross with friends. My father is a avid mountaineer (as was I, and will 'get back into it' very soon!), and recently climbed all of the Teton peaks at the Grand Teton Range in Wyoming...I wish I was retired too!
Be sure to post photos if you can!
Cheers,

I'll look forward to meeting you gents. Bye the bye, how does one obtain this beautiful X Marks The Scot Tartan? I'm thinking about making my next tank and I this would certainly be one that I'd enjoy working on.

When they send out the tickets and info to the conveners they include a map showing where you have to set up.

There is an are called the x store in the forum list. you can contact Steve through there or see what is available. Otherwise, you can just send him an email or pm to order the material and getting the kilt made.

Estes Park, CO games
I'm originally from Boulder, just down the road. It is really a wonderful event. Just a word of caution: Yes it is the first weekend after Labor Day, still summer right? Not necessarily in Estes Park. I've been at these games where it has rained, sleeted, been windy, cold, hot, and snowed, all on the same day! So take clothing along just in case. You've been warned, now do what you want.
