Hey Rabble,
Does anyone know where the parade begins, it's route etc.? I wouldn't mind marching with the Douglas clan for the Browns, or for my mother's family, the MacLarens, (since my wife and I will be wearing that tartan).
Ron
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

It goes down the center of Estes Park, the town. Everyone assembles at the I guess it's the west end of town and it ends down by the visitor center at the East end of town.

There are a couple options. First would be to park at the east end and ride a bus to the start of the parade. The visitor center is where you would get on the bus. The other is to park where you want and walk to the west end of town. They block off Elkhorn, which is the main east/west street, at James and the parade starts gathering near the entrance to the Elkhorn Lodge.
The dogs actually gather on Spruce Drive ready to join the parade after the clans pass by. Duncan, if you walk west on Elkhorn from the water wheel, you will pass by the dogs lining up on Spruce before you get to where the clans gather in front of the Art Guild.

I travel up there yearly and don't look at street signs. I believe the parade route begins on west Elkhorn Avenue through downtown ending at the Estes Park Visitors Center on Highway 34.
The Festival website has contact information if you need more specific details.

One caution get to the parade site before 8:30 am or there will be no getting up the parade route. I usually drive up past the Stanley Hotel and come to Elkhorn from the north, bypassing downtown on parade day.
