how to store a feather bonnet?

I store mine upside down in a large 16 litre plastic pail. It fits like a glove. If you know someone in the culinary field, these are a dime a dozen.
I cut out a few holes in the bucket for ventilation as well. Works like a charm.

You can get the pails at any hardware store for about five dollars. Also be sure to tell the laddie not to store the bonnet wet or just after wearing it. Hang it upside down to dry out and then store it by tucking the tails into the hole on the right side of the bonnet.

There are wee beasties which eat feathers - they mainly inhabit bird's nests but they can get onto clothing.

I saw a drawer full of quill pens which had been eaten down to straws by them, so a hat with feathers would be a mere snack.

Some sort of insecticide in the pail and regular inspections during storage would be a wise precaution.
