It does sound like something Mr. Churchill would say, Jock. Regardless, it was a great line in the movie.

Unfrtunately the matches are being shown in the middle of the night here in Europe, I may stay up for the Scotland v England game, hoping we hammer them, particularly with misery guts, Martin Johnson in charge of the English
I see Scotland received a great reception when they arrived at Invercargill, with many kilted Scots and a piper greeting them

I agree Jimmy , Martin Johnson is a misery guts and clearly is no where near as good a coach as Clive Woodward although he was miserable too. MJ was a thug when he played and his persona is no better now. Must admit although I was born in England I have half Welsh parentage so I will be forlornly be cheering on the boys from the valleys. Also the celt in me will be behind scotland for every match unless they meet wales in the final and then I will have a half for each, as long as wales eventually win.
The only slight issue is that there are 3 southern hemisphere sides who will no doubt have something to say about a home nation win and not forgetting Argentina who finished 3rd at the last world cup.
Sorry everyone from USA, Canada, Japan etc... but it was nice for you to take part. :-)
Guess i will be late for work for the next few weeks.

It would be great if teams like Wales, Scotland or Ireland contested the final

I have to say I agree Jock. Professionalisation was not good for Rugby Union in Scotland. I am originally from the West of Scotland and played as a woefully bad wing three-quarters at school there. Subsequently I went on to live in Hawick/Upper Teviotdale, although my maternal grandfather was originally from Galashiels, and therefore I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Gala RFC. Professional sides based on the old Districts are not the same, and don't command the support of those who followed the old amateur clubs. I still support Scotland (and the British and Irish Lions on tour).
