			Mountain Kilts

Anyone other than me have one of these Mountain Hardwear "kilts"? Aside from the fact that they don't look like a kilt, I find mine to be very comfortable for walking and hiking. Just wondering what your take is on them.

The only product I could find was a buckled wrap designed and manufactured for women. The outer apron is clearly folded to the left side and there didn't appear to be any pleats. Am I wrong??

That would be the one, Blu, but they're made mainly for men. They list them as unisex in the catalog, but if you read the details it clearly states "real men wear kilts".If you read this product review from Backpacker magazine you'll see what I mean.

I see Blu's point. It has the right-over-left design. Men's clothing is traditionally left-over-right. It's that way with everything from pants, to shirts, to kilts. I believe unisex is even traditionally left-over-right. Curiouser and Curiouser

The fabric looks like it would be very kind to the skin, unlike canvas (which I dislike personally).
Are these things pleated or flat all the way around...like an "A-line" ummm uhhhh errr

There are no pleats at all. As I mentioned, it's a "kilt" in name only, although it was designed for the male body.

It looks to me like originally it was aimed at the ladies but didn't sell very well so they decided on a unisex marketing strategy. A sensable marketing tactic and it does look pretty comfy

Thanks guys! It is very comfortable for walking around in, and has two reasonable sized pockets.
And yes, Blu...the one time I wore it out I got a number of nice looks from the ladies.
