2011 Seaside Highland Games (Ventura, California)
Let's hear it... Who's coming to the Seaside games?
X Marks meet up?
I plan on participating in the games. This will be my first event... ever. Wish me luck!

If all goes according to plan (here I go tempting fate again!) Bob and I will be in attendance from the Friday night dinner through about noon Sunday. We come up from San Diego on the Amtrak, a very pleasant ride and much preferable to driving!
Last few years we have tried for a Saturday night dinner, with low-to-no attendance. Daytime meet-ups have been more successful although if you're throwing, we may have to go looking for you (you may not have much time to wander). It's a great Games, nice venue although last year's placement of athletics in the dusty "dirt track" raceway was not so pleasant. Maybe they will come up with a better locale this year?
Hope to see you there!
Proudly Duncan [maternal], MacDonald and MacDaniel [paternal].

I'll be throwing in the novice class, so, only on Sunday. Saturday will be a free day for us (my better half and our one year old) and would be the better option as far as a meet up goes. We can set a time and place when it gets a little closer to event time.
Anyone else out there plan on stopping by?

I pulled my hamstring last week, so assuming that heals in the next 4 weeks I'll be there as well! This will be my first games & I'm throwing in the novice class on Sunday
We live in Orange County, I think we may just drive up on Sunday morning and back on Sunday afternoon.
Good Luck to you, btw!!

I hope you heal up quick. I'd love to throw along with a fellow X marker. How much training have you been doing? I'm still working on my foot work. I still can't get the timing right for the weight throw. My weight for height is coming along, but still nothing like what the guys did last year. I haven't touched a hammer or caber yet. I'd like to get at least one day of training on both if I can. I'm at the mercy of the guys helping me out though.

That'll be my first games throwing as well, Women's open (novice/ beginner/ *** are you doing class) on Sat. I'll be the one with this look on my face wearing the Williams of Wales tartan. If ya'll pass by the throwing ladies, wave to me and say a prayer... please?
@Droid- There is a practice group here in OC that meet Sat and Sun. We got a chance at the cabers last week. PM eclarkhb or me if you'd like details.

Prior to pulling my hamstring I was training a lot on my own & I've been to 3 practice sessions with a group. I don't have any implements (except stones), so I'm using a orange traffic cone to practice WFD. Not ideal, but its better than nothing.
I'll be in a Campbell Ancient tartan. There's actually a pic of me in the USA Kilts subforum, make sure you say "hi" on Sunday!
@GoodGirl - I didn't know you were going! I'll see you there (actually probably before then @practice) - GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!!

Sydnie and Bob told us about taking the train from San Diego, so that's what we'll be doing. I'll be cheering for you athletics folks!

Looks like we are going to have some great weather for this one! Cool and sunny. Good thing, I wouldn't want toss a well rained on sheaf.
*thinks* Isn't that a John Mellencamp song?
