IMO most of these are atrocious. The man-bag (EDIT: as Newfoundlander just beat me to) is just a satchel.

Robert Downey's version looks like a purse because of it's size, fabric, and how he's wearing it. I don't think anyone would call Indiana Jones' satchel a man-purse.

As for the scarf thing, again, presentation is everything. Something in silk MIGHT look like a cravat, but might also make you look like this:

That said, nobody said scarfs were Marfs (***?) when air crews wore them during WW1&2.

Perhaps it's the patterning on the one shown.

As for sandals, people can pry them off my cold, dead feet. They're nearly all I wear for 6 months of the year. (although mine aren't fancy).

Here's an appropriately manly satchel. When I'm not kilted with my essentials in a sporran, I carry the medium version in Dark Coffee Brown. Also love their briefcases, duffel/overnight bags, and suitcases. Everythng they sell has a 100-year guarantee.

The fashion items themselves aside, it just struck me as incredibly stupid the way they put an "M" in front of everything in an effort to be witty or creative... Mandals? Seriously? Last time I checked, sandals were unisex and didn't require an "M" in front of them. Manties? Meels? The whole point of the article seemed to be to flog a bunch of related articles they wrote over the past 3 years to recycle them because they didn't get enough attention the first time around.

I swear, sometimes Shine (and other publications of that ilk) just try way too hard and it shows.

My thoughts exactly, calling sandals (worn by both sexes for thousands of years) mandals is just well, vacuous!
