Webbing, Strapping, Loops, and D-Rings
Does anyone else like to wear the wide work belts made from webbing or woven materials with the canvas or UK, non-traditional kilts?
Also, I'm thinking about the smaller version of this webbing or strapping for on-kilt loops and such, possibly with D-rings for hanging things; kind of like light-weight hiking gear around the waist, but only with a couple of loops or rings. Perhaps these could be attached to the belt, instead.
Just pondering some ideas in my head.

I've had the same idea myself (not for kilts, as I no longer have any non-trads) - wonder where such belts could be bought?

Re: Webbing, Strapping, Loops, and D-Rings
After a quick search, I found several results on the famous internet auction site, as well as from lots of military surplus sites - results using search terms including
quick release belt
nylon pistol belt
security belt
etc.
various styles and widths available, so there should be something there to suit most needs.

I found a web pistol belt like that, but only half as wide. It works great, and I can still attach a canteen when I hike.

Boating supply stores are good places for nylon webbing and associated hardware. I get a lot of miscellaneous pieces for my dive gear from the local marine equipment supplier.
I've been thinking about getting some narrow nylon webbing, a Fastex buckle, and other parts to make a sporran strap for my Nightstalker. Seems like more appropriate construction than the typical leather strap, given the contemporary materials of the sporran.

If there is an REI or MEC near you, you should be able to find D rings, clips and webbing. Another source is a trip to the hardware store - some interesting hooks, etc can be repurposed for kilts
Here is how I have used some of these do-dads.

Re: Webbing, Strapping, Loops, and D-Rings
My tool belt/pouch, which I have worn while gardening in the canvas kilt, has D-rings and things like that, and that is kind of what is leading me to think about it. It has back-support padding and other attachments that require the belt to be much longer than I need. I've worn the webbing part, which has a two-prong roller buckle on leather ends, but the extra length wraps half way around my back without all the padding.
Meanwhile, I recall the hardware stores sometimes having wide belts made only from the webbing and no tool pouch etc. If I get some nylon strapping, I could put D-rings, or other connecters, on loops that slide on the belt, or even have snaps to close the loop. That would make it all adaptable to what I need.
Just my thoughts.

I've had great luck ordering from strapworks.com. They've got a ton of options for different types of strapping (including various materials, widths, and styles). They also offer pre-made belts for cheap, too. I've picked up a couple of 1" and 1.5" nylon double D-ring belts, along with lots of other stuff.
