Anyone's spouse/significant other vehemently opposed to you kilting?

No, my wife doesn't object at all. She's a strong, independent, and very secure woman that early on recognized my independence from the norm. She honestly could care less what other people think, as time is too short to put up with close-minded people. I've known and worked in the same office as her for ten years, but it wasn't until I wore a kilt to work for the first time that she really noticed me for the first time. While others were shocked or put off, she came up and said, "Nice legs." It wasn't long after that before we started dating. I proposed at an outside restaurant in a kilt, was married in one, and she's been totally supportive as I slowly build my kilt wardrobe.

I think it's important to be my own man. Yet, real men are always considerate of the ones they love and communication is a must. If everyone is on the same page, things go much smoother and when new interests appear, talking about it first is best.

My wife used to think that I should only wear a kilt to Scottish or family events, but the more I wear one the less an issue it has become. Last weekend was my family golf outing and we were gone from Friday to Sunday and I only packed kilts. Hated to put pants back on for work on Monday.

Oh, I know what you mean! Pants, ugh. During my teenage years I was an auto mechanic, so would come home, get cleaned up, and change out of my work clothes. It's almost the same thing now as I come home from the office and can't wait to change to a kilt.

It certainly appears to be a universal question ''Why are you wearing your kilt''. On the occasions that I have randomly decided to wear my kilt and have been asked this question, I have replied that I just feel like wearing it and enjoy wearing it at times in preference to trousers. This always meets with approval and perhaps a little envy from the questioner.
Perhaps I would wear it more often but there is something in me that says that I don't want to be associated with being the guy that wears the kilt all the time or most of the time. I suppose this sounds strange from a frequent kilt wearer and its something that I have never seemed to get my head around.

My significant other would look hilarious in a kilt considering he's Punjabi. But maybe in a few years I can get him into a Walker tartan

Marryin' a Walker means becomming a Walker!...sort of.

All I know is it im going to be wearing shalwar kameez, he's going to get a kilt. 50/50.

Perhaps in silk rather than wool. Yes, you CAN get tartan yardage in silk. Tartan refers to the weave, not the material.

My wife loves the kilt, and actually thinks I should wear it more than I do.

She, however, hates traditional Scottish headwear. She refuses to be seen with me if I want to wear my Balmoral - even at a Highland Games where lots of others are wearing one. Doesn't like the Glengarry either. So I usually find myself having to go hatless when kilted, and as long as I do, she's happy to be on my arm.
