You should be able to find local seamstress who could handle this. Check local colleges for fabric-related classes (my community college has some great tailoring and other classes full of bright young women who would probably love to make a little extra money). Or take the class and use this as your project!

Dry cleaners who offer on-site alterations may also have, or be able to steer you toward, somebody who can make up a simple pattern like this. Also check Craigslist.

Good luck and keep us posted!

    Re: floor length womens kilts

I found a few tartans that would have significance to me.

    American National

    Wisconsin

Walker Hunting (wow sorry for the massive picture size)

    County Cork, Ireland

Spirit of Scotland (probably my favorite)

I think the first one that I would get would be the American one...then maybe the Scotland one and then the Co. Cork. That way Ive got all my motherlands covered except Germany.

There's a German heritage tartan as well, registered by USA Kilts I believe.

Could be flattering for some but in my case it would hit at the widest part of my not-insignificant calves definitely not a good idea!

You've got me geared up, just might get one made for Ventura. . . will keep you posted.

this picture looks a very similar colour scheme to the Walker tartan substituting the light stripe for the red in the walker sett.
Looks mighty fine to me. After all is said and done you are a Walker.

I noticed that too, that it's similar to Walker.

I like the length because it's just short enough that I can wear it in public if I wear black tights and some boots with it.

    I like the Wisconsin Tartan.

Michigan just adopted an official tartan in November 2010. If I could afford another custom weave kilt, that'd be the one I would get next. My family migrated to Copper Country in the Upper Peninsula. I like the idea of a district tartan.

yeah they sure are a pretty penny. I think my next skirts in district tartans will have to come a little later down the road....and very far spread apart. haha. Unless I marry rich
