    Re: floor length womens kilts

right lads! (and lassies) I have found the winner for my first real tartan skirt.

    County Cork tartan

    in this style

    for $250 from USA kilts

Think its a winner? I sure like it

So, Rocky... be looking for my order somewhere around Xmas time or March ;)

plan is to wear it with my calf-length brown leather boots (or black tights), maybe a white cashmere sweater and a scarf in one of those colors in the tartan

lol I just texted my whole family and said "Meghan wants $$$ for xmas!!!" and my mom asked "why?" and I said "kilt" and she goes "oh jeez"

I think you have a winner. The jones is going to build as the next few months pass by. Best of luck with that Christmas wish list

Rocky and USAK are a good team. You will be pleased with the final product.

I knew I could trust them to give me something good $250 is a lot for a broke college student so I want to make sure I'm going to like what I get.

is the Free shipping for orders over $200 an all the time deal or just right now?

As far as I know, the shipping free on orders over $200 is always what Rocky does. They made me a custom weave kilt. It is made of the Michigan State University tartan. I even had to get permission from the university president just to get the tartan woven.

You will definitely get you moneys worth.

Glad to see you've found your selection! Now as for your comment about where to wear all of these that you will ultimately collect... I'm always quick to recommend Scottish Country Dancing as a great social pastime... You could always check out: http://MadisonScottishCountryDancers.org/ I don't know anything about the group specifically as I dance in Canada, but it is a great pastime.

    Syndie7,

I agree! never have a skirt or kilt that hits at the widest part of the calf. It makes the calf look wider and does not show the shape of the leg. Longer or even a bit shorter is better.

Meaghan, Let the kilt 'do the talking'. Keep the top simple, and don't overdo on the accessories. Even a simple gold bangle is an elegant touch. Have fun!

    Cheers, Jocelyn

Looks like a stellar selection Meghan. I'm sure you'll be pleased with Rocky's work, lots of folks on XMarksTheScot, myself included, have one of his creations.

Ohhh, that is a lovely skirt, and a fantastic tartan choice!! The outfit you describe sounds like it would certainly be a hit as well

I say definitely keep focussed on going for it and don't let the jones hit you too hard.

That's exactly where I am right now myself! I totally want a new "general wear" kilt in the Tara (Murphy) tartan to have by Christmas and for St. Patrick's Day! (Which is my birthday by the way). I feel another dreaded jones attack coming on...
