Re: A short hop across the German/ Dutch border
I think that I was the first kilted lad in Dutch Overijssel province since some Canadian highlanders liberated the Duch people there in 1945 . , so the kilt probably was the primary reason. Then they became interested in the Quaich and its story and at least they got trapped for Scotland by the Malt.
We are Westie breeders for 16 years now and I think we are the only ones with an official permission from a Highland Regiment to take its name for a kennel and to wear their tartan (since 2003 when we took that picture with the Black Watch officer at Barbara Barracks, Fallingbostel/ Germany).

Today, the Quaich failed to make sunshine and we had "typical Scottish late summer weather". Here are some pics we took on a walk through the hilly "Sauerland" region. Our friends Annette and Achim enjoyed a good dram.
