I would say petrol as the diamonds are red on the side of the tanker, cant make out the numbers mind, the unit also has the orange square on it's grill which denotes a hazardous load

Could be a variety of flammable liquids- if you can see the 4 digit number on the placard on the side of the truck, google UNxxxx where xxxx is that four digit number, you should find out what the exact product is. I tried but can't see the number clearly enough.

I stand to be corrected, but the tanker seems to be empty in the picture-----the tractor unit only has one set of drive wheels touching the ground-------I suspect it is going to the Highland Park distillery to pick up a load of whisky to take to the bottling plant in Glasgow, either as part of a blend,or, bottled in its own right as Highland Park.

Jock, the hazard placards and the warning markers front and rear are only required when carrying pre-defined quantities of substances identified in the various regulations for carriage of Dangerous Goods by road, sea or air - so in this case the tanker must be carrying something. The volume required to trigger the display of placards can easily be less than that required to lower the trucks other axle.
If I could find the blooming photo on the original website I might be able to enlarge it and satisfy my curiosity!

Yes indeed, I see your point on the regulations, but my money is still on whisky that it is carrying! We see quite a few of those types of tanker lorries around here carrying whisky.

It could well be - I had a search around and found the UN number for scotch is 3065, which could indeed be the number on the placard.
