Re: Your Razor Choice (for the partially or fully bald-faced)

Have been using a mug and brush since university. Bought both a Gillette Atra razor and a straight razor my freshman year. Still use both on a daily basis, however the straight razor has had a bit of the metal worn away after 32 years of use.

Still using what's listed here daily: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...37/#post293650

Robert - Blades are still readily available but grocery and drug stores are much more expensive than online (eBay or sites such as West Coast Shaving.)

Re: Your Razor Choice (for the partially or fully bald-faced)

I can't use any form of electric because the grain of my facial hair is too close to the skin, but the Mach 3 works reasonably well. Whenever I have gone searching for better alternatives, the advice I always get is "try a straight razor."

I haven't got up the nerve yet, but when a pack of Mach 3 cartridges costs $28.00, my curiousity is given a bit of incentive.
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

Re: Your Razor Choice (for the partially or fully bald-faced)

I've been using the same Norelco electric shaver since 2001. I think it cost $100 or so, which seemed pretty steep at the time. Looking back...my shaving costs are about $10 per year. No complaints here. I kept clean shaven while I was in the Marines, but since 2008 I've experimented a bit with the whiskers. I'm in goatee mode today...

Re: Your Razor Choice (for the partially or fully bald-faced)

I shave about once a week, usually Friday nights.

I am partial to the pink ones with the Daisies on the handle, I think Gilette makes them.

    Really.

Re: Your Razor Choice (for the partially or fully bald-faced)

Mostly I dont shave and have the grizzly adams look most of the time, however I have an electric beard trimmer for when it gets too long, occaisionally I do trim around the neckline with a twin bladed safety disposable razor.
