That's correct. What you mean is that the pattern is off-set with the (as viewed) left selvedge finishing in the middle of the red pivot which would allow the sett to repeat correctly if two sections were joined along that edge.

Is the momogrammed hemmed? Look at the #1 image and it will tell you the answer.

Looks like a pale Blue beside the red stripe actually. That's 6 colours then.
    Correct.

Re: Tartan of the month - October: What do yo see?

I have no experience in this at all, but I wonder if it may be the kiltmaker's (even a mother or relative) signature, or as a completely other idea, the symbol of the joining of two families, clans, etc. The light and the dark in the embroidery may combine two of something. Just guessing here. The needlework doesn't seem precise to me.

The holes look like a like a repair, but why are there so many of them? Would the pinning of the apron be so repeatedlyprecise as to make a row of repeated holes? Hmmm.

    Cheers, Jocelyn

To me it looks like a true selvedge with an offset pattern.

Lots of what looks like pinholes. Is it a woman's article?

There's a question that's not been asked that would help solve the puzzle.

"What is it?", is that the question?

Either that or maybe a shawl(sp)?

The initial makes it a personal item, so it couldn't have been someone's curtains.
