I apologize in advance....
I apologize in advance for asking this off the wall question….
A few months back, my wife and I brought into our family a young, male smooth hair fox terrier who is simply a joy. With Halloween approaching, my beautiful wife of 33 years came up with, what SHE thinks, is a great idea.
My wife said, “Wouldn’t it be fun on Halloween for Reno (our fox terrier) to dress up in a doggy kilt costume? In that way, you and he can both be dressed in kilts to pass out candy to the trick or treaters.”
I’m not opposed to wearing one of my kilts for Halloween as I look forward to any opportunity to wear a kilt but I kind of think it’s crazy to dress my little pal in a kilt costume. After all, he was neutered not long ago; how much indignity can the little fella take?
As in most successful marriages, however, my wife wears the “pants” so I need to find a doggy kilt costume.
Can anyone suggest where I might be able to purchase a doggy kilt costume?

Think you will find all you need here. A fellow vendor whom I have done many events with.
Tell them Mark from ATS Apparel (the custom clan crest apparel maker) sent you.
Hope this helps!

Gah, I had a pic of a Jack Russell Terrier in a kilt (I have a Jack, but he will be wearing his tradtional bat wings and orange tutu this Halloween), but I can't find it, even with google.
I *think* there is a member on here who makes dog kilts. I believe she's a new member, from a few months ago, so maybe search that forum??
PetCo and Three Dog Bakery usually have a good selection of dog halloween costumes, more unusual than the standard pet costumes at Target and Old Navy. They may have a dog kilt.
Wow, I know way to much about pet fashion. That's normal. ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Why not just get an infant kilt and make due with it? They are pretty cheap, generally come in small sizes which are relatively short and close with velcro, which could easily be moved or removed and replaced as needed in order to achieve a proper fit. You might want to tack the aprons and pleats together with a couple stitches to keep it up aroound his waist and hips and from drooping down to the ground.

C'mon! He will look great!
Looks like these people just bought some fabric and made an apron-type kilt out of it. Tied it around the little guys waist.
Pop by a fabric store and get a square of plaid fabric and have at it He will look so cute!
and if he wont tear it to bits, maybe tie a little bit around his neck too
OH! put some one-time blue face paint on him! Braveheart Puppy!

its a good thing I dont live near you and your wife. Your wife and I collaborating together would never let your poor dog get his dignity back.

Re: I apologize in advance....
My wife found a piece of lightweight Black Watch tartan in a fabric shop and made a coat for Finnegan, our Cairn terrier. Alas, he outgrew it. I say he got fat, she says that he grew. So, in the interest of keeping our marriage happy, "He outgrew it".
