Re: Lochcarron or House of Edgar
paulhenry, that appears to be a Maclaren tartan (ancient). I have two kilts in that that tartan, both 13oz. One is from Lochcarron, which matches the colours shown, the other from HOE which is a darker shade than what is shown on my monitor. Was wondering if it is just my monitor or is that 16oz from HOE and a special weave

Yes, The tartan is MacLaren Ancient, in 13oz, it's a standard, not a special weave. I'm sure that it is the same as the kilt , both in terms of colours and feel.

Re: Lochcarron or House of Edgar
Thanks for the reply paulhenry. I'll try to get some photos up of the difference in my Lochcorron & HOE

Top is HOE and bottom Lochcorron, both 13oz
I can now see by the thinner black lines on your tartan and my HOE that yours is indeed a HOE. In person the difference between the two (Lochcorron and HOE) is vast, yet when photographed they look very similar in colour.
Thanks for your time paulhenry

Mine is the 16oz Lochcarron and appears somewhere between the 2 above but monitors and cameras differ. I am just thinking of ordering a weathered.

Chris, I also have a Lochcarron 16oz in the ancient and from the front can't tell them apart (colourwise). It's a bit harder from the back cause the 16oz is pleated to the yellow stripe
