Re: Leather jacket to wear with kilt on wish list
I agree regarding bomber or motorcycle jackets, as the cut is short-waisted for either sitting in a plane cockpit or on a motorcycle.
You might also consider a wool bomber. I have the "Seattle Wool Bomber" from Filson, which will do for most situations here. Nicely short waisted but also cut roomy enough to layer a jumper under if it gets really chilly:

Alternatively there's their Mackinaw Wool Bomber -- the same cut but heavier fabric:

Those are seriously good looking jackets. Never seen anything like them over here but perhaps I've just not been looking

Sorry, I didn't mean you should look at San Diego Leather products (although fine if you do) meant that if you googled on your side of the pond there might be a leather jacket maker with something you liked. That's how I found mine - just googled leather jackets then sorted through the cheap stuff to the good stuff, then found a style I liked.

Re: Leather jacket to wear with kilt on wish list
I know you were looking for leather, but I thought I'd toss this in anyway, since you were looking for something with a good lining for winter.

I've have a jacket by these guys (a different model) and it can easily stand up to Northern Labrador winters. The quality and craftsmanship are first rate.
if your looking for a warm bomber jacket...

I am amazed no one has suggested the Stillwater causal leather kilt jacket here: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/Sti...ilt%20Jackets/
I don't have one myself, the sizing doesn't go up quite high enough.

It's the lightest-weight leather jacket I've ever seen, definitely what I'd consider "summer-weight" here in San Francisco. But for "smart casual" wear in warm/comfortable weather, it's great and I love it.

On the cover of American On Purpose, Craig Ferguson's NYT bestseller on why he became a Yank, he wears a black biker jacket with white tee...and a kilt made from red-white USA flag striped fabric with an apron of blue with a few stars. Add the combat boots and, well, it's one more modern kilted look.

Thanks for all your advice and suggestions. So here is what I got. Not real leather but all I can afford at the moment. It looks real, feels real and has a warm lining and keeps the wind out.
