You could have invoked the line from the Monty Python Penguin On The Television Set Sketch:

You've not been on campus lately, have you?

I'm in university and none of my teachers say anything, including the small class of 22. Everyone is cool with it.

I had the same thought about her being distracted. Maybe she has a bit of a fascination towards you and she was jealous that you were getting attention from some of the other young ladies in the class!!

Re: Kilted In Class: A Minor Victory

Very well done, Allen. You prepared ahead, and when faced with a challenge, handled the situation admirably!

It's unfortunate that this young professor has not reached your level of maturity. It seems that she feared that she could not control her class, and looked to you as the problem when it was she. She needs much more guidance in learing how to handle her class and individual situations as they arise.

Kilted men are dashing and handsome, and perhaps it was she who was distracted.

You might want to document this problem with a small discussion with your kilted professors and those who have the authority to enforce dress code. That way, if there is any retaliation on her part, you have already made your case once again by preparation. I would not complain to the higher ups, but in a casual conversation, discuss what happened to you, and ask if that had ever happened to them, with a smile on your face. Save any threats for later ammunition. They will recognize a potential lawsuit in the making if she decides to become vindictive.

    Again, congratulations!

Re: Kilted In Class: A Minor Victory

Thanks for the good words everyone. Much appreciated.

I hadn't thought about the problem possibly being her getting distracted by me. Anything is possible, but I doubt it. Heck, maybe I did interfere with the other students' concentration and couldn't see it from where I was. Probably not. Most likely it was just a bad day. She's a little "off" from time to time, not in a "bad mood" way but more of a "what the heck was I just talking about" way. I've never seen anything that would make me worry about revenge.

After being back in her classroom since the "incident" I'm happy to that a good relationship with a good educator wasn't damaged. I would have worn a kilt to class last night, but I decided against it, but only because the project we were working on involves adhesives and dyes, neither of which I want on my USAK's.

I do have a couple of old X-kilts though. DOH!
