You'd probably look just as good with Scubapro's Jetfins. They are solid, hard, black rubber. Used by navy seals and a professional standard since 1965... Just head over to your local marital aid shop, get some latex polish and give 'em a nice shine! ![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Perfect for a formal evening dance, Sushi.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

So... I think you have to be Royalty to get away with it.
* Not sure he would have been George IV in Scotland. I'll have to look it up: working from notes.
Wasn't he the really crazy one?

No idea to either question. I just found the picture and thought it strangely apropos to the discussion. :-)

It is a sign of disrespect for me, to say the least. I mean, if you do not have the guts to pull if odd, then you might as well take the whole thing off rather than make fun of it by covering your bottom part with trousers.
They are made for that, and should you not be comfortable, you probably should have not tried it out in the first place.

Re: Kilt with trousers underneath!
Sorry to be entering this fray so late, but in one of the "Men-At Arms" series on 18th century highlanders, there is a picture of a regimental piper in India in the late 1700s in full regimentals with white cotton breeches on. Not leggings, not undies, full breeches. Common CajunScot, help me out here!

Thanks all for your opinions on this matter.
I think I'll eventually possibly try out making a long knee-length tunic with belt for more of a viking/anglo-saxon-inspired attire (well, pretty much everyone even the Hittites - minus the pants underneath). I have a friend who makes awesome clothes and creative unique long jackets ... she can help me with the sewing.
In my opinion these older styles of clothes are much better than the modern trend (blue jeans + t-shirt with slogan/corporate logo + ball cap). It would be nice to incorporate things like this (and the kilt) into modern attire - even if your the only one for many miles doing it
