There has been some confusion about this religious aspect in the media, as I understand it the King or Queen will still have to be in full communion with the Church of England, and will still have to swear to uphold the Presbyterian government of the Church of Scotland. The only change (in religious terms) is that they will be able to marry a Roman Catholic.
I am (within the context of my British citizenship) a Constitutional Monarchist (and still a communicant member of the Church of Scotland, even though I now worship with my local Congregational Church in Massachusetts). I must say that hitherto I didn't regard these proposed changes as a major priority, but I am nevertheless relaxed about them. I know the sun will still rise in the morning and life will continue on as before. I doubt it will affect anything regarding the future of the House of Windsor for at least fifty years, and then it will be accepted as the natural order of things.

Gentlemen, if I may. My pantry contains quince jelly, marionberry jam and strawberry jam, should any of these be more to your liking.![Wink](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
And thank you for your insights into this subject.

Re: royal succession
Is it not fascinating the degree of interest expressed in this subject by those in the fortunate position of being able to make a choice about their head of state?
I somehow think it elicits a largely "so what?" response from the majority of subjects in the UK.

No, I have not had the pleasure, but I do know the Bishop of Norwich.

Strange for you to say that, as I was thinking the opposite, noting that the posts in this thread by those of British birth were outnumbering those of American birth nearly 3 to 1.
All I have to say in that matter is that though Charles certainly lacks charisma, I find myself often in agreement with his views, such as his dislike of ruining historic skylines by the addition of hideous modern buildings.

That would be the loyal toast, not so? ;-)
And in closing, may I say that while the Duke of Rothesay has a few blots on his character, I do think he would make a very good 21st-century monarch.
He was thinking green well before Westminster woke up to the trend.
